LOW COST SPAY/NEUTER CLINIC February 2nd, 3rd, and 4th

IF YOU NEED A PET SPAYED OR NEUTERED, PLEASE CALL NOW FOR AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE FEBRUARY CLINIC conducted at 1531 Hwy 289 North in Cherokee Village (across from the IESI Landfill) on the grounds of Cherokee Village Animal Control facility. The phone # to call is 870-994-4445. Please don't wait - book your appointment now!

The cost is $30 to have a cat spayed or neutered - $8 extra for a rabies shot (which is a State of Arkansas requirement).

For dog spaying and neutering, the fees are staggered by weight of the animal and are as follows:

Up to 50 lbs: $50

51-80 lbs: $60

81+ lbs: $70

Rabies shots for dogs are also $8. Other shots and heartworm tests are available if needed.

Payment can be made by check or cash.

Adopt-A-Thon at Walmart/Low Cost Spay & Neuter Clinic

Spring River Animal Services is getting ready to hold a huge adoption drive in front of Walmart on June 19th and 20th. We have lots of beautiful pups and kittens to choose from. Desperately needed at the shelter are used towels, thin blankets, collars and leashes, kitten food, puppy food, treats, and cat litter. Your donations are always appreciated and can be dropped off at the shelter across from IESI Landfill (1531 Highway 289 North)or brought to the adoption drive!...

ARKANSAS SETS 3-YEAR RABIES LAW

Good news for pet owners in Arkansas! The rabies vaccine which originally was designed to be a 3-year vaccine but was required to be given every year in the past will now only be required every three years as originally intended. The Arkansas House (91-5) and Senate (35-0) passed a new rabies law authorizing the State Health Department to establish rabies vaccination schedules http://www.arkleg.state.ar.us/assembly/2009/R/Pages/BillInformation.aspx?measureno=HB1274 which will result in a 3 year rabies protocol for Arkansas dogs and cats.. ...

ADOPT-A-THON AT ASH FLAT WALMART, FEB 27/28

After the ice storm which changed so much in our daily lives managed to cancel our last adoption drive, Spring River Animal Services is ready once again to introduce the wonderful animals at our shelter to the public and to find them new homes. ICE STORM DOGS AT SHELTER....

Please pass on to family, friends, and neighbors that anyone missing a pet since the devastating ice storm January 26 and 27 should call 994-4445 or come to the shelter at 1531 Highway 289 North (across from IESI) entrance to see if we have their dog. Once folks were able to get out, stray and lost dogs were turned in to us who now anxiously await their owners to come and reclaim them!...

After a lifelong career in administrative support services for various corporations, translator/interpreter for US Army Forces in Europe, Century 21 Realtor and running a successful landscaping business with her husband in Texas, Helga and husband Robert retired to Cherokee Village five years ago. She is a two-time cancer survivor and after having been declared well on her way to recovery, she found her new niche in life: Helping a budding but struggling local animal shelter get as many animals adopted as possible, educating the public about the needs of the shelter and working closely with community organizations and the public to raise funds, promote spay and neuter programs and responsible pet ownership.
