Great Wednesday to all - and stay cool! What's more, keep your pets cool and put out lots of water in a shady area if you have outdoor pets because it's going to be oppressively hot today!

Well, I bet you wonder who this little fella is. We don't know his name, but he was found abandoned, tick-infested, and so matted under his legs that it was difficult and painful for him to walk until we took scissors to hand and relieved him of the massive mats and we removed the nickel-size ticks. This beautiful dog is up for adoption to a caring and loving home where he will receive regular grooming, veterinary care, and lots of love and affection inside a home (he is not an outdoor dog and will climb out of a kennel as he has done at the shelter).

So, this brings me to the subject of responsible pet ownership: PLEASE get your cats and dogs spayed and neutered if they aren't now! There is a low-cost spay and neuter clinic in EVENING SHADE on JULY 14 and 15 AT THE OLD EVENING SHADE HIGHSCHOOL. PLEASE CALL MARTHA WILLIAMS AT 870-710-3056 TO GET SCHEDULED IN NOW BECAUSE THEY WILL FILL UP FAST! Shots and tests are also at a reduced cost if money is an issue. Fees are staggered by size of dog and neutering male cats and dogs is a bit less than spaying a female cat and dog. HELP TO STOP THE PET OVERPOPULATION IN THIS AREA AND INDISCRIMINATE BREEDING BETWEEN ANIMALS!

"Letting her have at least one litter of puppies so she knows what motherhood is" is one of the biggest misconceptions! Having a litter does not change a dog's or cat's attitude and they don't suffer any ill effects from not having had a litter; however, getting them "altered" makes for a much calmer, settled, and more compliant pet!

Responsible pet ownership means taking care of God's creatures to the best of our ability! It does not mean "letting animals do what comes natural" and contributing to the overpopulation. It does not mean dumping puppies alongside roads and highways where they are often run over and killed or maimed. It does not mean dumping puppies into rivers and lakes or into wooded areas hoping someone will find it and take care of it. It does not mean "disposing" of our animals in the most inhumane manners possible. It also does not mean giving puppies and kittens away and pushing off onto people in Walmart parking lots (although this may offend some who genuinely hope they can find animals a home which have been dumped on their property - I am really referring to people who let their dogs and cats have litter after litter and then figure a quick way to get rid of them is to go to Walmart!). So whether you agree or disagree with my opinions, I am hoping if your pet is not spayed or neutered you will make a call to Martha Williams and get them scheduled in!

Thank you!
