Local volunteers caring for cats and kittens after surgery - we need your help, too!

Well, I can't believe where the month, much less the past year has gone! Time just seems to fly when you stay busy and busy we have been at the shelter. Here it is almost the end of September and we're gearing up for the next low cost spay & neuter clinic at the shelter location at 1531 Hwy 289 North (across from the IESI landfill). Dates are October 6, 7, and 8.

Oh, but please - don't just show up! Call 870-994-4445 to get your appointments now before they're all taken! It is also imperative to KEEP your appointments - otherwise these dedicated veterinarians and their vet techs cannot afford to travel all over Arkansas to give us a financial break on getting our pets spayed and neutered at lower cost.

When someone who has taken 5 appointments for 5 pets does not cancel in a timely manner and does not show up despite a reminder call, it hurts the bottom line for the vets and someone else could have had these appointments. Just think: Arkansans for Animals have to have a full schedule to make it worthwhile to pay for gasoline, vet tech pay checks, medicines, upkeep of the mobile unit, and have some money left over to pay their own bills.

Cost to spay/neuter cats is $30 ($8 more if rabies shot is not up to date - State requirement!).

Cost to spay/neuter dogs up to 50 lbs is $50 ($8 more for rabies shots); 51-80 lbs is $60 ($8 more for rabies shot), and for dogs 81 lbs. and up the fee is only $70 (plus $8 extra if rabies shot is needed). Other tests and shots are available upon request during registration.

If you're a fervent believer in spaying and neutering pets but have chosen not to have your own, please consider helping with the spaying and neutering of pets of the less fortunate and elderly or donating funds toward spaying/neutering local homeless shelter dogs and cats so they are much more likely to find permanent homes with caring folks in our and other areas. Please call 870-847-0727 for more information on how you, a selfless animal lover, can make a difference in the life of a helpless animal! Thank you for your consideration!
