The food arrives

8-7-08 -- Thursday:
My food arrived today (straight to my door) and almost everything sounds pretty good. I don't care for the shelf-stable pre-packaged foods, so almost all of my entrees are frozen. There are pizzas, muffins, cheesecake, chocolate cake, mac & cheese, broccoli & cheese, stuffed potato and a whole lot more. I didn't come across anything I wouldn't eat and that was good. When I signed up for this, I told them about my aversion to shelf-stable foods and red meat, and they helped me through a menu that allowed me to say yes or no to food selections. That was good.
I headed to the store to pick up the fresh foods and dairy to add to my menu list. I bought carrots, celery, yogurt, 1% milk, extra bottled water, diet orange soda and blueberries. I have a lot of fresh garden vegetables at home right now, as well as some wonderful peaches, so I didn't need to buy too many things. My husband doesn't care for celery, but everything else he likes OK and they can be added to some simple meals for his "alternative eating style." For his meals we will attempt to use the diabetic exchange menu. I plan to look at what I'm eating and help him eat things that are similar. As long as he gets lots of protein he won't be too picky.
There are free foods on Jenny's plan, mainly vegetables, that allow you to add to your menu ... Volumize! Cantaloupe and watermelon are "limited" free foods, and I love both, so I can have some of either if I start feeling hungry.
I have to admit, my supper meal on Thursday wasn't exactly healthy -- but it was sure good! The ball game got in the way of eating at a decent hour and I ended up stopping at Dairy Queen for a Butter Finger Blizzard and a grilled turkey sandwich. |
