All-Star week in Fayetteville

Football: The West All-Stars had a record-shattering evening in their 62-23 win over the East in the Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star football game June 20 at Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville. Siloam Springs' Nathan Nall, the starting quarterback for the West, went 21-of-31 for 309 yards and a record six touchdowns in the game. The 62 points the West scored was also a record in the annual contest. Former Highland Rebel standout David Street took the field as a member of the East All-Stars. Softball: The East and West All-Star squads split a softball doubleheader June 18 at LadyBack Yard in Fayetteville, part of the Arkansas High School Coaches Associations annual showcase of the best senior athletes in the state. The West blanked the East 7-0 in game one, while the East shutout the West 1-0 in the nightcap. Highland's Whitney Crook was a member of the East All-Stars, coached by Mountain Home's Dell Leonard. Grinnell was named the East's Most Outstanding Player in game two. Basketball: The East had its way in the annual Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star girls' basketball game June 19 at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville. The East All-Stars routed the West 72-46, with Highland's Hassi Bray scoring two points for her squad. Highland Lady Rebel Head Coach Harlan Davis (below) was an assistant coach for the East staff. In the boys' game, Izard County's Kyle McCandlis recorded seven points in his team's four-point victory.
