Sharp attends training seminar

Highland Police Chief Beatrice Sharp once again demonstrated her committent to law enforcement and her community by attending a four day education and training seminar in Reno, Nev. June 1-4.

While in Reno, Sharp completed the Rural Executive Management Institute (REMI) program. The classes attended were instructed by experts with the National Center for Rural Law Enforcement (NCRLE) from Little Rock, Ark. NCRLE is a division of the Criminal Justice Institute with the University of Arkansas.

The REMI courses were tailored for officers and chiefs of police from rural areas. The four day combination of educational and training courses were designed to emulate the training primarily offered to larger urban and foreign law enforcement departments.

Topics included in Sharp's training included Leading in Law Enforcement, Organizational Ethics, Futures in Policing, Communication Concepts: Generation Next, Media Relations for Law Enforcement, Preparing and Managing Budgets and Grants and Community Crisis Preparedness.

Sharp has been with the Highland Police Department for eight years and looks forward to implementing her training in the community that she loves.
