Murder Suspect Captured

A Cave City woman is being held in the Independence County Jail in lieu of a $1 million bond following an attempted murder in Batesville Aug. 5.

According to a probable cause warrant obtained from Independence County Sheriff Keith Bowers, two witnesses said Darlene Denise Siau, of Cave City, entered the residence of Michael Wade Bailey at 520 Ferrell Street in Batesville, and shot him in the mouth while he sat on the arm of a couch and then left the home.

Independence County Deputy Fred Friar responded to the home and found the victim laying in the floor with a gunshot wound to the head. Bailey was transported to White River Medical Center in Batesville then air lifted to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Hospital in Little Rock, where Bower said he was in stable condition Aug. 6.

After the shooting, Siau left the home and led area police officers on a 24 plus hour search. Siau was apprehended Aug. 6 following an anonymous tip. Siau was charged with attempted first degree murder.
